I was so hesitant when I began reading this book. I never read any of Dessen’s book hence was completely clueless as to what to expect. But , I fell in love with this book and even after 2-3 weeks of finishing it I think of it.
The story is about Ruby, coming from an abusive mother she does not want to do anything with her life, well surviving is her only motive. But, her well to do sister Cora suddenly gets her responsibility. Cora’s husband, Jamie is a very sweet guy who is extremely supportive of Ruby.
Nick is Cora’s neighbour, wealthy, good looking but he is holding something back.
Dessen impressed me so much that I already have two of her other books in paperbacks and she is definitely one of my first choices when it comes to reading now.
I HIGHLY recommend this book.
Emma – Jane Austen
Looking for Alaska – John Green
Lock and Key – Sarah Dessen
True believer – Nicholas Sparks
Bared to you – Sylvia Day
That Summer – Sarah Dessen
Dark places – Gillian Flynn
All PLL books and all Nicholas Sparks books which I haven’t read.
I only read Safe Haven and The Wedding.
Update : 11th may, completed the Notebook and Dear John.
I read Safe Haven last January I believe, I loved it!
But now I have this resolution : to read all of Sparks’ books , so I am reading Dear John.
I am loving it so far!
I am a hopeless romantic, I love reading love stories as well!
I fell in love with the author, Katie Ashley, after reading her books “The Proposition” and “The Proposal”. Though, those stories were very ordinary but it was VERY romantic. When I searched Katie Ashley on epubbud, I found nets and lies hence I downloaded it on my Ipod ( yes, I read on my Ipod). Little did I expect to fall in love with this book so much! I literally finished the book in a few hours.
Katie Ashley’s previous books which I read were so romantic and the woman has real talent for writing romance. I never quite expected her to tackle an issue as grave as sexual abuse and bullying but when she did, I was nothing but impressed.
The book is from two viewpoints. Melanie and Jordan, who couldn’t be anymore different than each other. Jordan is the popular, known as a “slut” girl whereas Melanie is the captain of the school’s basketball team and also a great student. Melanie is the “star” of the school whereas Jordan frequently gets in trouble.
Before I read the book, I hoped to related to Melanie more than I did with Jordan but I ended up loving her character more. I should have hated her because ..oh well, you’ll know. But, I ended up loving her character the most. She is flawed yet she is loveable, and the more you read the book the more you’ll know why she is the way she is.
Melanie, is a victim who is afraid to speak up for what the society will say or what her boyfriend will say. I don’t blame her but this book gives you an insight into all of those victims’ lives who kept shut and while we think it’s easy for them to speak, it isn’t always.
I highly recommend this book. It is a well written, engaging book. Please do read it.
I planned on finishing this book a long time back but it took me three weeks to finish this book. You ask why? Well, because this has the most predictable plot EVER. For half the book, Pagan doesn’t know what DANK is. Pagan falls in love with this guy OVERNIGHT! Why? Because he SANG to her every night while she was in the hospital. I regret spending whatever hours I spent on this book.
She falls so in love with guy that she gives her SOUL up for him. Dank calls her the reason for his existence.
The only amazing character in this book was Leif yet the author declared Leif is actually not a human being ..he is soulless!
Pagan knew she doesn’t love Leif but she leads him on for the whole book. She is so annoying. Dank is even more pathetic. He wants to stay away from Pagan but he is always coming back. WHAT THE?
Let me begin with talking about my anticipation for the sequal of fallen too far , never too far! I was counting days till the release date. I even BOUGHT it. I rarely buy books (I download them for free). This has got the be the most annoying book I’ve read in a while. I have so much respect for Abbi Glines. I love her writing style. The first book was amazing, it kept you hooked. I skipped chapters through this book.
Brief summary :
Rush : “I love her. Blaire is beautiful. Why is Woods protecting her? Why is Jimmy talking to her? Why did Blaire’s ex boyfriend come to me? ” I really did have a Rush crush when I was reading fallen too far. But, this guy is desperate and annoying. Even Nan was more appealing than him.
Blaire : She was portrayed as a strong, intelligent, innocent and strong willed young girl in the first book. In the second? Well, she is only ” thinking” . She wants to maintain distance from Rush yet she accepts a ride from him. Even she became an issue in between. Rush went for lunch with a lady. The lady could be anyone. Pathetic.
The only likeable character in the whole book was Woods. I cannot wait for Too Far #3.
I just hope he doesn’t behave as dumbly as Rush.
Let’s get to the ” suspense” part : Nan isn’t Blaire’s Father’s daughter. Her father left them because he felt guilty for running the red light hence he pretended to be Nan’s father.
I really hope Rush shut up about how much money he has, he is always talking about money ..OH MY GOD!
